Nicole Corriero

Nicole Corriero graduated from Harvard University in 2005 with an honours B.A. in the field of Sociology. Subsequently, she completed the "JD/LLB" program offered by University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy earning both her LL.B (Canadian) and J.D. (American) law degrees. Nicole was admitted into the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2009.

 

Nicole has worked with Mr. Rocco Lofranco since 2000, first as a summer student, subsequently as an articling student and associate, and now as partner. Her entire legal career has been devoted to acting on behalf of injured Plaintiffs in their disputes with at-fault parties, no-fault insurance carriers, long-term disability insurance carriers and employers wrongfully dismissing injured parties due to their inability to return to work. Nicole has also successfully represented injured parties before the Canada Pension Plan Disability Appeal Tribunal, as well as the Social Benefits Tribunal and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. She has also assisted on a number of jury trials and represented numerous clients at the Mediation and Pre-Trial stage.

 

While at Harvard University, Nicole was a standout hockey player. She was a 3-time All-American, a two-time nominee for the Patty Kazmaier Award, for the top collegiate women's hockey player, and a 2005 ESPN ESPY nominee for top collegiate female athlete. Nicole still holds the NCAA scoring record for goals in a season for both men's and women's hockey with 59 goals in 36 games, among a number of other NCAA scoring records.

 

In law school, Nicole volunteered with the Windsor Community Legal Aid, the Crossroads Soup Kitchen in Detroit, Michigan, the St. Thomas Moore Society, and the University of Windsor's Mediation Clinic. She represented Windsor as the only Canadian law school participants in a Civil Rights Moot Court Competition held at UCLA in Los Angeles, California, sat on the University of Windsor's Speakers' Committee, and was a Teaching Assistant in Criminal Law for the first-year law students.

 

Nicole is an active member of the Harvard Club of Toronto, and a volunteer with the Schools Committee acting as an alumni admissions interviewer for Harvard applicants. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Toronto chapter of the St. Thomas More Lawyers' Guild. She served on the sponsorship committee for the October 2010 Steppin' Up Gala, held in support of the St. John's Rehab Foundation. She is also a regular participant of the annual 'Shoot for a Cure' hockey tournament in support of the Canadian Spinal Research Organization.

 

She is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association serving as a volunteer for the Trial Lawyers for Veterans initiative, a member of the Ontario Bar Association and a member of the Advocates Society and Medico-Legal Society of Toronto.
